Marine conservation Storytelling & Underwater Photography
For As Long As I
Can Remember,
Writing,
In Its Various Forms,
Has Been A Way
To Process
And Connect To The World Around,
But More So, Within Me.
In Jersey, my chosen island-home in the English Channel, we quite literally get to explore the seafloor on a daily basis.
Owing to our significant tidal range of up to 12+ meters, massive rocky reef structures are revealed in the low-tide intertidal. This is the playground where my underwater photography journey started & where I got back into my writing.
Wandering out there brings a unique sense of connection to our natural world -
the one that is singing all around us but many of have stopped listening to.
It also brings me back home to myself, and fosters connection with others.
And so, Wandering Amidst Oceans is about the encounters we have in the blue space -
be it with the beautifully elegant and quirky and child-like joy-instilling inhabitants of world beneath the surface,
or the encounters within our human communities that nurture us.
One way or another, the underwater world provides for our souls in a plethora of ways, and I am hoping to tell these stories.
Advocating for ocean conservation by expressing this awe for the marine world and its curiously wonderful inhabitants is a crucial part of my personal journey of wanting to live true to myself and my values.
Writing, to me, has always been a creative outlet through which I reflect upon, and process the world around me. Over time, exploring others‘ stories has also helped me find my own voice in ocean conservation.
By telling the emotive stories behind what drives those in the field, I
hope to not only help foster a connection to the underwater world, but also between us as humans.
